Plantar Fasciitis

One of the most common complaints of foot pain.

This diagnosis is inflammation of the ligament that connects the heel bone to the toes. Often times this ligament gets irritated from pressure being placed on nerves that supply the area. Ligaments are extremely strong and this one in particular is difficult to injure.

Through proper examination we are able to identify the structures being irritated and determine if we are actually dealing with true plantar fasciitis!

How are your foot biomechanics?

Referred pain is very common in the extremities.

There are key structures involved that can refer pain to the bottom of the foot.

  • Posterior Tibial Nerve
  • Tibialis Posterior
  • Flexor Digitorum Longus
  • Flexor Halicus Longus
  • Anterior Tibialis
  • Tight Gastrocs and Soleous
  • Saphenous Nerve

These Structures all pass through or near the Tarsal Tunnel. This a small space that can become inflamed with an irritated nerve/muscle/tendon/ligament.

It is our job to understand anatomy here at Rider Chiropractic Sports and Injury in order to provide you with the best possible chiropractic care to promote your recovery.

Treatment

The most important part of treatment is identifying the cause

Through proper evaluation we will identify the cause of the foot pain and fix the dysfunction through:

The techniques used will help decompress the nerves that innervate the area, stimulate the irritated muscle, increase the muscles active range of motion, and strengthen the weak/inhibited muscles.
